Posting on Facebook Groups

Meta decided to discontinue their Facebook Groups API starting April 22, 2024. This change affects your ability to post content directly to your groups using SocialBee or any other third-party scheduling tool.

Rest assured, we've found a workaround that enables you to schedule content in SocialBee.

How do I connect my Facebook Group?

If you already have a Facebook group added to SocialBee:

All you have to do is switch to Universal Posting from the SocialBee Dashboard (on your web browser).

To switch to Universal posting:

  • Click on the toggle next to your Facebook Group to set the account to running.
  • You'll see a pop-up appearing on your screen.
  • Click on “Switch to Universal Posting”.

If you want to add your Facebook Group to SocialBee:

To schedule content for a Facebook Group, create a universal profile for your group.

Here's how to create a universal profile:

  1. Go to the SocialBee dashboard here, scroll to the Connect a new account panel, and click on Add under Universal Posting.
  2. Enter your account details, including profile picture and profile name. For network, select Facebook Group. Then, click "Connect."
  3. You'll find your Facebook Group universal profile on your Dashboard.

How do I post to my Facebook Group?

Schedule your content like you normally would, and assign the posts to your Facebook group profile.

When it's time to post, you'll receive a notification on your phone from the SocialBee app → 📲 You’ll be able to find the app for both iOS and Android in AppStore and Google Play.

Tapping the notification will take you to the next screen, where you can view the post in more detail and proceed with the posting flow.

Here's how to proceed depending on your phone's operating system:

  1. For iOS: After clicking Post now, your caption is automatically copied. Open the Facebook app and navigate to the group where you wish to post (go to your profile > Groups). Then, manually create the post within the selected group.
  2. For Android: Clicking Post now automatically copies your caption and gives you options to share to your Feed, Story, or Group. Once you select Facebook Groups, you can proceed to create and post your content.
