Posting to Instagram

If you have an Instagram Business account, you can share single-image posts directly using SocialBee. First things first, please make sure that you meet the following requirements:

If you meet all these requirements with your Instagram profile, you will have to go to your SocialBee Dashboard and either connect a Business account (see below) or open the Posting Setup for the Instagram profile you have selected.

Connecting an Instagram Business Profile

To connect a new Instagram Business Profile, scroll to the bottom of your SocialBee Dashboard and click on the Instagram Business button.

This will redirect you to Facebook, asking you to grant SocialBee the necessary permissions in order to view and post on your Instagram pages. Once you did that, you will be taken back to SocialBee, where you can select the profile you want to connect and click on "Add Profiles".

Once you did that, you should be able to see the connected profile in your SocialBee account.

Enabling Direct Posting for a Previously Connected Profile

If you have never enabled direct posting for your Instagram profile, you will first have to switch to mobile reminders and reconnect your profile to SocialBee. This will prompt you to authorize SocialBee within Facebook, giving us the right permissions to post directly to your profile.

Once completed, you will be redirected to SocialBee where you will see the the first tab is selected. This means that single-image posts will now be shared directly to your feed. It is important to remember that not all aspect ratio images will work for Instagram Direct Posting. You can see more about these restrictions in this SocialBee Help Article.

Enable Fallback Actions for Direct Posting

Since videos and carousel posts aren't supported at the moment, we have created a workaround using the SocialBee Companion Mobile App. After enabling direct posting, you will notice that at the bottom of the page you can select a user to receive notifications when you want to share multiple images at once, or maybe even a video.

So, let's say you want to create a carousel post. When you open the post editor, everything will appear as normal, you will be able to upload multiple images and type in your post caption, as you can see in the screenshot below.

However, next to your emojis and hashtag collections, you will notice a red mobile phone. This signifies that the post cannot be shared directly, and you will receive a notification on your device when it's time to share the content.

Please keep in mind that SocialBee supports direct posting for images with an aspect ratio between 4:5 (portrait) and 1.91:1 (landscape).

As alternatives, you can choose to post directly through our Zapier or Buffer integrations for Business Profiles. Instagram Personal Profiles can only post via Reminders, with our companion mobile app.

Choosing Your Post's Destination

Instagram allows multiple types of posts to be shared: feed posts (which includes both single image and carousel), stories, and reels. To choose where you want to share an Instagram post, first you will have to customize the post for each profile.

Then, for the Instagram profile, at the top-right corner, you will be able to choose where you want your posts to be shared from the drop-down menu. Keep in mind that stories and reels will be shared via Reminders, using our companion mobile app.
