Posting to Pinterest (via the Hootsuite integration)
You can pin posts to your Pinterest boards through SocialBee, by using the Hootsuite integration. See how you can connect Pinterest and push pins to your boards, below:
Connecting your Pinterest account to Socialbee
To connect Pinterest to SocialBee, you’ll need to make sure of two things:
- That you have a Pinterest account.
- That you have a Hootsuite account (a free account works just fine*).
*Note: with a free Hootsuite account you are able to connect up to three socials and can be used to connect 3 Pinterest accounts if needed.
Make sure that you are logged in from the same browser on all three accounts (Pinterest, Hootsuite and SocialBee).
The first step is to connect your Pinterest account to Hootsuite. To do that, log into your Hootsuite account and go to your account, to the Manage Social Networks tab. Once there, you’ll see the option to connect a “Private Network” at the bottom of your screen.
Clicking the “Private Network” button will prompt a pop-up that allows you to see all the platforms you can connect to Hootsuite. In that view, select Pinterest, and then connect your Pinterest account.
When connecting your Pinterest (or any other social profile to a third party tool like Hootsuite or SocialBee, you need to authorize the app to access your account, so that we can then send the posts to your profile. When prompted, make sure you click “Authorize App”.
Once the setup is complete, your Pinterest account should appear as connected to your Hootsuite account.
The next step is to connect it to SocialBee. To do so, make sure you’re logged into your SocialBee account from the same browser. Then, go to your Profiles.
From your Profiles, click “via Hootsuite” under the Pinterest Icon at the bottom of the screen, in order to connect your profile.
Once you do that, you will be prompted to allow Hootsuite access to your SocialBee account.
Once access was allowed, you’ll see a list of all the profiles that you have added into your Hootsuite account. Add your Pinterest profile from there.
That’s it! You have now successfully connected your Pinterest account. Now, all you have to do is add the content and start the schedule.
Creating a post for Pinterest
The process of creating a post for Pinterest is a bit different than creating a post for other social profiles, because this platform also requires you to pin your posts to boards, as well as add a source to them. Because of this, before being able to add your post you will see a warning, letting you know that you need to add the board and source first.
When adding a post to Pinterest, make sure you select it as a profile when creating your post, as well as add the text and image to your post. The next thing you need to do is click “Customize for each profile” (even though you might only have this one profile selected).
Once you’ve set up a customized view, you’ll be able to click on Pinterest and add your board and source.
You'll see what your post should look like once done, on the right side of your post editor, in a live preview.
